In the May/April, 2016 HR Decisions Magazine, the cover story written by Barbara J. Neff focuses on Performance Management and how it is becoming the new HR buzzword process while traditional annual performance appraisals are losing popularity with managers and employees.
Barbara mentions in her article that consulting firm Bersin by Deloitte says that performance management encompasses goal-setting and revising, managing, coaching, development planning, rewarding and recognizing - all of the processes an organization uses to effectively lead, manage, develop, reward, and assess employees. In an article written by Susan Schoenfeld, JD, a contributing editor of HR Decisions, it appears that the OFCCP will continue to focus its efforts on systemic hiring and compensation violation cases. Ms. Schnoefeld mentions in her article that the OFFCP will expand its staff by 10 new investigators with the ability to perform complex data analyses necessary for evaluating hiring and pay practices. Susan stated in her article, ?With the additional staff, the OFFCP will provide the sufficient expert support for improved data collection and analysis. The OFFCP says that its compensation targets are projected to increase to 40% of all discrimination violations and settlements in FY 2015 and in FY 2016 (up from 35% in FY 2014). In addition, Counselor Schoenfeld quoted OFCCP Director Patricia Shiu in a press release after an OFCCP settlement announcement with Aramark Educational Services, LLC with the following statement: “There are no such things as ‘women's work’ and ‘men's work.’ There is only work, and federal contractors are well aware of their obligations to provide equal opportunities to all employees and job applicants.” Click here to continue reading
